We all have a sense of longing for more. Even in the best of times we know there lingers, a sense of dissatisfaction deep within our soul. Deuteronomy 4:29 says, But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find Him if you look for HIm with all your heart and with and all your soul.

In Acts 17, Paul says, From one man He made every nation of men, that they would inhabit the whole earth; and He determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him though He is not far from each one of us. For in Him we live and move and have our being.

So we seek God and learn He indeed is the One who truly satisfies. Isaiah 58 says, The LORD will guide you always; He will satisfy your need in a sun scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring who's waters never fail.

This blog is made up of reflections, that are to me, like dew drops in the garden. Things that spring from the pages of scripture and refresh my heart. Whispers, ideas, hope, inklings, inspiration, glimmers, breadcrumbs...all pointing me in the direction of my heart's true home which is the Lord.

Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His Presence] shall be my dwelling place. Psalm 23:6

He Remains With Us

I was reading in John 3:22 amp yesterday and was touched when it said, "After this, Jesus and His disciples went into the land (the countryside) of Judea, where He remained with them, and baptized." This Amplified Version translation brings out that Jesus remained with the disciples. This little phrase, "He remained with them" touched my heart.

So often we think it is us remaining with Him. Us choosing Him. And there is our part in that, for sure. Yet the glorious truth is He remains with us. He wants to be with us. He is full of grace and love in His promise to never leave or forsake us. Check out Hebrews 13:5 and Deuteronomy 31:8. They attest to this truth. He came to us and He promises to remain in and with us as believers FOREVER.

This promise is actually one of the first God ever impressed on my heart, many years ago. When I first became a believer, I used to worry that this thing I had found would go away. Fade. Disappear. I feared this beautiful relationship with my Creator, my Father in heaven would somehow be lost. And so one day, as He knew I was struggling with this, He graciously reassured me with Hebrews 13:5 and Dueteronmy 31:8. They are the same promise; one is from the Old Testament and one is from the New. And all these years later I can look back and say He never has. He has never left me. He has never abandoned me. And for that I am eternally grateful.

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you;
He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Do not be afraid;
do not be discouraged.”
Deuteronomy 31:8 niv

God is striding ahead of you.
He’s right there with you.
He won’t let you down;
he won’t leave you.
Don’t be intimidated.
Don’t worry.”
